Abstract

In this article we are concerned with the history of the beginning of republican movement in Spain, between nearly 1840-1875, a question which has deserved a recent revision as show two books by Román Miguel and Florencia Peyrou. Their analyse, focussed on languages and discourses, but also, on the organizational evolution of the political formations which called themselves, democratic or republican has allowed to appreciate more accurately their different tendencies, often confronted, which arised inside this political movement. Just as the crisis that closed the brief experience of the First Spanish Republic, in 1873. This recent bibliography put our knowledge about the early stages of spanish republicanism over the level reached in the classical monographies on this topic, basically those by C.A.M. Hennessy and A. Eiras Roel.
