The aim of this article is to trace the path of Seville’s Republican Union since its formation in 1903 until 1907. During this period the party leaded by José Montes Sierra won the local government elections twice (1903 and 1905). For the first time since the beginning of the Restoration, republican city councillors won their seats in Seville’s Town Hall. The republican presence in the town council revitalised the town’s political life with ideas such as local regeneration and the citizens’ well-being. But the good electoral results didn’t prevent divisions within the organisation.
