Radio has deployed gender ideology since its inception. The aim of this paper is to analyse the ways Mundo femenino, a programme directed by Julita Calleja, did it during the developmentalist Francoism. Through this analysis we will see which gender roles were proposed by this radio station and how they negotiate social hegemony in a moment in which new female identities derived from the country’s incorporation to mass consumption were appearing in Spain.
