This article is a reflection on the importance of the documents generated by the repressive states for its utilization in the historic investigation and to compensate the victims. It does a review to the statement of this type of files in Spain after Franco’s dead, indicating the deficiencies relating to their conservation, identification, processing and accessibility, and recommending the necessary measures to solve these problems.
