Myth and national history played a substantial role in the process of new foundation of the profession of historian in Francoism. In this paper, we offer a theoretical development from history of historiography’s field, on the extent and benefits of an approach to this item according to the current debate on concepts such as historical collective identity or historical consciousness. Afterwards, we’ll focus on the dictatorship’s project of standardization of a new and only historical collective identity in the central decades of XXth Century Spain, and its crisis.
