This article is a reflection on the theoretical and methodological basis of historical biography, following the latest historiographical approaches. It applies these to Germán Gamazo, outstanding politician and lawyer of the restoration period. There inexplicably lacks an in depth biographical study explaining decisive aspects of his time, such as his role on the protectionist and Regenerationist movement at the end of the century. It aims to show the concepts of socio-cultural history including the identity and the narrative value of history.
