The author analyzes the alternative imagined by liberal to the political exclusion of the «people» and the channels of inclusion that kept the links between the nation and the people through reformist proposals. She emphasizes the integration capacity of liberal political culture, which was initially based on an image of an egalitarian society of citizens.
