Restoration is a politic period in our history, wich is characterized by «caciquismo » and «turnismo» in politics. The phenomenon of «turnismo» moved from the state area to the rest of the politic statements, also affecting townhalls. The response of mayors wasn’t the same. While some of them resigned at the same time as government, others remained in charge. Regarding Palencia, the mayor was forced to resign after a discredit campaign that was carried out by Sagasta’s followers. Two different profiles of elite local politics, the Elisabethan represented by the Mayor and on the other hand, the emergent Restoration represented by the «fusionistas» leader in the townhall.
