Abstract

The anti-Francoism was not a core narrative of transition and consolidation of democracy in Catalonia and in Spain that was built on the discourse of modernization and non-political instrumentalization of the past. The work of memory manipulates the public uses of history in terms of interest in this well restored or replaced events, people and places of memory. To what extent the anti-Franco amnesia in autonomous Catalonia is functional in the reconstruction of social and community identity?. The analysis focuses on the policies of official memory.
