The myth of the comuneros in the construction of the Spanish Nation-State

In building the Spanish liberal state, the historical event of the Comunidades was used by liberals and progressives to justify the project and claim, while the corresponding model. What happened in Villalar historical arguments brought to vindicate the struggle for freedom and to advance a liberal model involving, inevitably, the national unit and the stubborn defense of the monarchy. This latter demanded from liberals and progressives, not from Republicans and Democrats, plot strategy, drawing on the historical episode of the Comunidades, would make liberal model compatible with the monarchy.
