Abstract

The ideas and the work of María del Refugio García Martínez are anchored in both the history of leftist opposition and the chronicles of women’s struggles in Mexico. The article argues her insertion into the construction of the post-revolutionary State and its political culture. In addition, it examines how her revolutionary consciousness and militancy in the Mexican Communist Party were born and developed, and how they went hand-in-hand with her struggle to achieve social vindication for women. This article gives details about the labor of Refugio García and others vanguard women in the Mexican Council Feminist and its international projection.
