Abstract

This paper analyzes the operations framing developed by the two leading newspapers of the Spanish press, EL PAÍS and ABC, through analysis of quantitative and qualitative content. Coinciding with a key stage of the Cold War, focusing on two attacks occurred in the critical semester of 1983, we identify the attitudes and framing operations of the two faced headers, which illustrate the ability of interpretation and bias of the facts by the press, and the skillfulness to form and modify the interpretations of its audience.
